I’ve always struggled with dry skin. After 34 years (well maybe not quite that long, I probably didn’t realize I had dry skin when I was born) I had just learned to live with it and coat myself with as much lotion as I could. But I was never able to find a product that really worked well.
Until now.
Last fall, I attended a fund raiser for a friend that was going on a missions trip. The fund raiser was Arbonne products. I was very fearful. I used to sell Mary Kay and I was very leary of these type of products that are very expensive and tempt you with being a consultant.
But really people, this stuff works.
I tried out a salt scrub that is the most amazing thing ever. And I have never been able to wear foundation because of my icky skin but I absolutely love their mineral powder foundation. And now I use regularly the face wash and moisturizer and body lotion. I recently started using their progesterone balancing cream that’s suppose to help with my messed up cycle and horrible PMS. I’ve only used that for one month and haven’t noticed alot of change so I’ll give it another month or so.
Well then I decided I didn’t want to spend so much on these products and so I became a consultant, which really has no strings attached. Really, I’m not just saying that. The other thing I love is that these products are all natural. Did you know that any lotions made with mineral oil basically put a coating of “plastic” over your body. There’s so much unnatural stuff in our food and products these days, it’s no wonder we have PMS so bad and our skin is so messed up.
So Arbonne works for me. And being a consultant allows me to purchase the items for a better price and there’s really no pressure to sell. Love that!

My mom and I started a ministry for women a few years ago. The name of this ministry is Day Spa for Women (Experiencing a Personal Touch From God). The theme scripture is my life verse, Ephesians 3:14-21. The only problem is this ministry is not really a spa. It’s a spiritual spa. We do give the women hand and food massages but during the massages we pray over them. The rest of the day is spent hearing a message from God’s word (given by my mom and I), worship and most of the time is spent in “prayer stations”. These are basically object lessons that draws the women near to God. They are given scripture references and asked questions and then asked to journal about their burdens, faith journey, joys, etc.
Here’s my mom’s description of the day: The ‘Day Spa for Women’ has been a work in progress….. it started over a year ago, when Missy told me about an idea she had. Her step-daughter had put on a ‘tea party’ for her Youth Group girlfriends. Missy thought it would be a good idea to have a ‘pampering’, ’spa-type’ event for a Women’s retreat. She felt the Lord calling her to minister to busy, tired, overwhelmed, frustrated women of this new milleneum. At the time, the Lord had been putting prayer on my heart, and I had organized several ‘prayer days’ at my Church. The Lord was slowly forming an idea, and I would put together what I call ‘prayer stations’. Basically prayer stations are tables with objects that prompt you to ‘dig deep’ and that correlate with God’s word in the Bible. It’s hard to explain – you really have to experience it! Anyway, what has come together is a day that is amazing! We begin with Worship. Then there is testimony. Revelation 12:11 says we overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony! God always seems to prompt us to share personal experiences that always end up being relevant to those attending. God is so cool how He does that! Missy is very talented in drama, and she usually does a short skit or drama. It’s very powerful.
The most powerful part of the day, in my opinion, is the prayer stations and the foot washing and foot/hand massage. There are 3 of us that wash feet, and then massage feet and hands. Of course we use sweet-smelling soaps and lotions. But it is the ‘aroma of Christ’ that lingers, as the Holy Spirit leads us in prayer. It is truly so powerful, so healing, so nurturing. We take a lunch break, and are treated to a special lunch. Then after lunch, we have more worship, more testimony and another 90 minutes of prayer stations and foot/hand massage.
Are you still with me? Wow, you’re amazing. That’s alot to digest.
The reason I’m sharing all this with you is because we feel that we need to have a different name for this event/retreat. We think when some hear Day Spa for Women they automatically assume a “spa” and may be turned away from that.
So, ask the Lord to give you some ideas and let us know what you think a good name would be. I know this might be difficult without experiencing the day but we serve a great God. He’ll let us know! Leave a comment with your suggestion.
And whoever’s name suggestion we choose will win some great Arbonne products! Drop me an email if you have any questions (lotsofsheep@sio.midco.net) and please pass this on to anyone you know who might be interested in suggesting a name. Thanks so much!
