Family Vacation 2008 Part 3

Posted in Crazy family, Family vacation 08, Making memories at 11:00 am by Missy

Unfortunately it was pretty chilly out so we wimped out and went back to the cabin after dinner and went to bed, while alot of the family hung out around the campfire. It’s amazing how things change when you have a little one!

Saturday, June 7th
Belle was up at 5 am to eat and then thankfully went back to sleep until 7:30 am. Then she was up and ready to conquer the world! Unfortunately we weren’t so ambitious! We bummed around our cabin for awhile doing nothing and trying to stay warm since it was freezing. We didn’t pack well for the cold weather we encountered but thankfully we brought lots of extra blankets.

My parents and brother were set to arrive at the campground around 10 am and so in the meantime we decided to go on a walk around the grounds. Even though it was cold it was so beautiful. I was feeling awful but I convinced Hubby and Princess to hike up a little cliff.

We then walked to the horse corrals and talked to the horses for awhile. Unfortunately I didn’t get to go on the trail ride since I was feeling so icky. But being able to talk to the horses was a good consolation. And then we kept walking (WHEW!). Princess and Hubby wanted to show me a real pretty bridge they found earlier when they went Jeeping. Here’s me and Hubby on that bridge.

Let me just stop right there and say that I do realize I need to do something with my hair. It’s totally out of control and I look like a freak. You’ll also begin to notice that I’m wearing that same black jacket/fleece thing in every single picture. I was cold people. Please do not submit my name to What Not to Wear. Thank you. On to better things.

Everyone had all decided we’d meet at the “main” fire around noon to grill lunch together. You’d think we were all a bunch of hibernating bears. After our walk we went back to our cabin for a nap and then finally around 11:30 started to mingle. The rest of the family was waking from the dead by then too.

Here’s a few mingling pictures:

I love this picture. It’s Belle with three of my cousins, Amber, Sarah (holding Belle) and Jessi. Isn’t it just precious!

And here are my cousins Kelly and Sarah with their sister’s twin babies E and M. They are 2 months younger than Belle and just moved to our same town and I’m so excited to have them grow up together!

This is my cousin Bree with Belle and her little girl K. Can I just say I love my cousins? When I was going through a very hard time before Hubby and I were married Bree flew thousands of miles to come see me. Mostly to knock some sense into my lame brain but still. Even though us cousins don’t see each other alot there’s such an amazing closeness that is so cool. Maybe it comes from all those summers at Grama’s house dressing up and putting on crazy plays?

Here’s another picture I love. And another cousin I love. Gee, I’m saying that alot. Anyway, this is my cousin Amber with Belle. I’m not sure what she’s doing to Belle. Kinda look like she’s putting a spell on her or something. Please don’t take offense to that Amber. I’m not saying you’re a witch. Although if you were a witch I think you’d be a good witch. :-)

Finally my parents and brother got to the campground. My mom broke out the guitar and started to sing some songs around the fire. Here she is singing Puff the Magic Dragon to my cousin Sarah’s little girl J. Now J, that girl I love! She looks here like she’s not paying attention but she actually is listening intently to the song mom’s singing. And every song after that.

And then Mom showed J how to hold and “play” the guitar. A star in the making, I’m sure!

This post is getting rather long so I think I’ll stop there. Sorry you don’t get to see the picture of all the “babies” together until tomorrow. You’ll also get to see pictures of the rest of my amazing family and I might even share a few stories.

p.s. If anyone is offended that I used their name or posted a picture of them well then you shouldn’t have been at the family reunion. Just kidding. Just let me know and I’ll remove it.
