A good time was had by all…except maybe not little Pip

Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend. We traveled to spend most of the weekend at my parents. They live right on the Missouri River. They actually used to live in their boat on the Missouri River but that’s a whole nother story.

Hubby has been dying to get me out Jeeping since I missed out on Jeep Camp on our Family Vacation. Oh, I guess you don’t know about that yet because I’m a slacker and haven’t finished telling or Family Vacation story. Well, anyway, Hubby was very excited to go to my parents so he could take me Jeeping.

On Friday, July 4th we spent the morning at my parent’s house being lazy because it was kinda overcast and chilly. My sister called at noon and being the amazing person she is, scheduled me for a massage at 2:30. The resort where the massage would be is right next to the river where my parents boat is and real close to where they guys go Jeeping. So the plan was we’d all head down to the boat at 2:00. Mom would watch Belle, I would get a massage and my dad and Hubby would go Jeeping.

I got done with the massage at about 3:30 and lo and behold Hubby walks in. He’s got good timing that guy. He and dad never did make it Jeeping and he was dying to go. I agreed to go along even though I was a little wearing of all the bumping. This is the first thing we see when we hit the trail.

Oh Lord, please don’t let me die!

We didn’t die but we sure did get muddy!

Notice the mud on the door. There was plenty inside the Jeep too.

We drove about 10 minutes and then got to a spot that was a little too tricky for the guys. I would say they were being a little wimpy. Hee hee, just kidding, I was counting my blessings!

So then they had to stand out in the 140 degree heat and talk about what to do next.

“Well there’s that land over there that has a no trespassing sign but I don’t think it applies to us.”

“Or there’s that other land over there that says no vehicles beyond this point but I don’t think they mean in July.”

We were off again to trespass on government property. Dummy me didn’t take a picture of the sign. It did say, “No vehicles beyond this point.” But there was another sign that said, “Road closed September – January” so they took that to mean the road was open from February – August. Ya, ok.

This is where Little Pip got mad. We drove for about an hour and it was so very bumpy and dusty and for some reason Hubby was being anti-air conditioning. I got very nauseas and got a horrible headache and eventually gave in and asked Hubby to go back. I felt like such a wimp. It was beautiful though, that’s for sure.

The day ended much better. We went back to the boat and sat in the AIR CONDITIONING! Praise the Lord! We introduced Belle to all the “boat people” and Angel and I even took a nap. It was wonderful. Eventually we got out the sparklers for Belle – she was mesmerized by them!

I can’t believe how creepy I look in this picture. That pink thing is my new solution to a major hair problem. More on that later.

My favorite picture of the whole weekend is this one:

Happy 4th of July!
