What? Hee, hee. That means What Doesn’t Work for Me Wednesday! Shannon over at Rocks In My Dryer is hosting a little different WFMW today. I’ve been kinda bummed because I wasn’t sure what to share. I couldn’t really think of anything that doesn’t work for me. I’m sure there are lots of things but my brain wasn’t cooperating.
But that silly little brain came through. Actually it was a co-worker that inspired this. I work for a church and every morning we have staff devotions together. And yesterday we talked about kindness. And how God can work through us even in the smallest ways, the smallest acts of kindness. All around you see everyone busy, busy, busy. Impatience and inconvenience seem to be the way of life for many. Always thinking about #1, what’s in it for me, how can I get ahead… ya know all that.
So I say that only through the grace of God, impatience and a “look out for me” attitude doesn’t work for me. It doesn’t work for my children…at least that’s what we’re trying to teach them. That God places us in situations, frustrating or not, for a reason and that maybe He wants to use us to bring a little sunshine to someone’s day. No, I’m not perfect and I do have those moments when I’m not so cheery to the cashier that messes up. But in every situation I try to imagine myself walking in their shoes and imagine if the roles were reversed how I would want to be treated.
And then my co-worker shared this story with us. All I can say is WOW and I hope I can live my life each day like these young ladies.
Head over to Shannon’s place for more advice on what doesn’t work!
