Little Pip – 5 Months

Posted on Updated on

I haven’t posted much lately about Pip and how he’s changed so hopefully I can remember everything he’s been doing the past month!

-He finally rolled over. But after doing it that one day quite a few times now he hasn’t done it much since. He’s getting to be pretty content with sitting on my hip and that’s he’s favorite place to be right now – no hanging out on the floor! He does sit up pretty good now. He’ll sit in the high chair and today he sat in a cart at the grocery store for the first time and did really good.

-We just transitioned to a regular carseat, as opposed to the infant carrier one. When you combine his heftiness with the weight of the carseat I just couldn’t do it anymore

-Still no teeth although he’s been slobbering and chewing on stuff like crazy. Who knows – could be soon, could still be a few months.

-Pip is officially sleeping in his crib now. He transitioned from the car seat about two weeks ago and has slept through the night one time. Otherwise he’s been waking up around 2 or 3, drinking a whole bottle and then going right back to sleep.

-Pip’s facial expressions are so funny. He’s either smiling like crazy or really serious, almost mad like. There’s no in between. He loves to watch Belle and smile and laugh at her. Actually he loves to smile at pretty much anybody. He also laughs all the time – although he’s been doing that for awhile. Our favorite is when Hubby will say “boo” to him and he’ll jump and then burst out in a loud belly laugh. Oh it’s just so sweet.

Here he is laughing at Belle for no reason. Just because she’s funny I guess.

-He’s eating about 6-7 ounces every four hours. He’s always had eczema but when we started him on rice cereal it got really bad. So we stopped the rice but it didn’t get better. We then went to a soy formula and it still didn’t get better. We’ve tried all sorts of cremes and different regimes. We’ve recently switched him to a disgusting smelly hypoallergenic formula. But I can’t really say it’s improved alot. So I’m not sure what our next step is. You can pray for us about this because we hear so many different things and different ideas (which feel free to share!) and we’re just not sure what to do. I’m thinking I’m going to go back to regular formula and see how that goes. The other stuff is WAY expensive and if it doesn’t help obviously there’s no point. We’ve started bathing him every day but only putting the creme on after the bath. I’m going to start doing the creme at least three times a day. If the regular formula doesn’t make it worse we’ll try rice cereal again and see if he has the same reaction.

-He’s still a very content little baby. He cries when he’s hungry and sometimes when he’s tired. Otherwise he’s content to sit in the bouncy seat, lay on the floor, sit in his bumbo seat or be held.

-Pip is in a size 3 diaper and getting close to switching to 4’s. He’s wearing 3-6 month and some 6-9 month clothes. Basically he’s a chunk. He was 16 1/2 pounds a month ago and has probably gained a pound or two – at least.

I came across this picture of him the other day…

Compared to him today at 5 months…

I can’t believe how much he’s changed! It’s so amazing.

Here are some more pictures taken in the last week. And you can see what I mean – either totally serious face or huge happy smile! Silly baby!

They are SO cute! I have eczema on my hands but didn’t get it until high school. I use a prescription steroid cream that helps. Other than that, I use tons of lotion. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

These are great pictures! And I love Belle’s blue and green butterfly shirt – Layla has the same one! 🙂
