Month: November 2009
I ate alot. No really, trust me. Alot. Thursday morning for breakfast we had chips and dip provided by my sister. And than an amazing buffet at 11:00 am that included turkey, ham, stuffing, potatoes (sweet and regular), butternut squash, corn, salad, fruit and of course dessert. Since we obviously didn’t eat enough at the ALL YOU CAN EAT buffet we snacked all day and night on chips, M&M’s, Goldfish crackers, candy corn, ham, potato salad and cookies. And then just for kicks we ordered two pizzas at 7:00 pm.
We played Scattegories on Thursday night with my family. My favorite answer of the night was with the letter E and the topic “reasons for being late”… Ended up in jail. Ex-boyfriend slashed my tires. Exorcist was on. Ok, I guess you had to be there.
Angel’s new love is her ponies. She has 9 My Little Pony’s, two of which are a little bigger and so they are the mommy and daddy. She’ll brush their hair one at a time and set them all in a line. And then brush their hair again and lay them down to go night night. On Thursday night she played with them for quite awhile and then my sister and brother started traumatizing her by stealing them and hiding them from her. She’s one smart cookie though. At one point she glared at my brother, pointed at him and yelled, “Jimmy, you did it!”.
My parents had their house rented Wednesday and Thursday night and so we stayed in a hotel. This is the hotel that my mom, brother and sister-in-law all work and so we were able to get really cheap pool side rooms. There were only a few people there and so we pretty much had the pool to ourselves. Angel loves to swim! And so she was in heaven, swimming Wednesday night and a couple times on Thursday. Unfortunately the one thing I forgot was her swimming diaper. But we weren’t going to deprive her of swimming just because I forgot her swimming diaper. Even if it did cause her to have major backside issues.
At one point during the weekend Angel took my face in her hands, looked lovingly into my eyes and said, “Mama. I want M&M’s.”
Princess and Prankster drove 7 hours to spend Wednesday night and Thursday morning with us! Even though Prankster had to leave Thursday morning for Wisconsin. Yes, we felt honored to have them with us! They also played “1 – 2 – 3 weeeeee” with Caleb and he loved it!
All four of our kiddos were with us for Pat’s family’s Thanksgiving dinner on Friday night. It was great and something I never take for granted. And Angel picked out her outfit. It was a size 18 months and I could barely get it zipped – but she’s still a little dolly.
I paid Princess to go shopping at 5:00 am on Black Friday. I realized after she came back without being able to acquire anything on my list except 2 scarves for me that my payment should have been based on what she was able to get for me.
I have a friend who has two babies. She also has a brother and a mom and sister-in-law that work at a hotel. This friend stayed at the hotel on Wednesday and Thursday night. There was no one else in the hotel and so everything was pretty much shut down early Wednesday night. This friend and her family, including the babies found themselves in the bar (that was closed) on Wednesday night. Her sister-in-law had made a big batch of amazing popcorn – seriously the best popcorn my friend has ever eaten in her life. They also ate cherries and olives and drank Coke-a-colas and watched cartoons on the Sprout channel. It was probably the highlight of our weekend. I mean my friend’s weekend.
We had Pat’s family over for supper on Friday night. We didn’t get home from my parent’s until about noon and I was supposed to work until 4:00. Pat was going to watch the kids, clean the house and cook for our supper. Yes, he is amazing. But he’s not that amazing. Thankfully I was given the ok to work Saturday instead of Friday and was able to stay home and help. Pat was being all possessive on me though and wouldn’t let me help much in the kitchen. Doesn’t he realize it is MY kitchen? And that I feel like a complete failure when I’m not allowed to help? Yes, I know I have issues.
Well anyway by the time 3:00 rolled around the house was somewhat clean, the kids were napping, the table was set and everything ready to go – well except for the food that Pat wouldn’t let me touch. And so I went shopping. I was pretty much unsuccessful because everything I wanted was of course sold out by then. But I did find a few good buys and have a nice hour of me time. And yes that me time did include popcorn and slushy from Target.
Saturday and Sunday we did pretty much nothing. Well if you consider playing with the kids, cleaning and napping nothing. Recently I’ve come to realize that that is not nothing. It’s awesome. Well the playing with kids and napping part.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend and made many memories!
How ironic the title of this post. I had a video uploading on youtube when I typed the title. And I’ve been sitting here for twenty minutes waiting for it to finish. It was down to a couple minutes left and I just went back and now it says ERROR.
Oh so close.
The video was of Caleb almost walking. He’s so close. Tonight he took about four steps and he’s so stinking proud of himself I can’t stand it. But for some reason when he falls down he’s started falling onto his stomach and banging his head on the floor. And then laughing.
Weird kid. He takes after his father I assure you.
It’s past 11:30 pm, I’ve been up since 3:00 am this morning and I have neither the patience nor the brain cells left to try to upload the video again. So tonight you get some random pictures.
We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks, for your Name is near; men tell of your wonderful deeds. Psalm 75:1
And I’m a pouty little snot. Sorry, almost forget that second part.
Ok, now that I’ve got your attention please take a few minutes to read this: My Husband Is an Overbearing Jerk … and I’m a Pouty Little Snot
Another good website I found that encourages specifially women in their marriages is Women’s Marriage Ministry.
More good stuff.
With love from one pouty little snot to another (and maybe to a few overbearing jerks),
~Friday night was family night and we’ve kinda gotten overloaded on pizza after having it 6 weeks in a row. So Friday night we decided to try out a new Chinese restaurant close to our house. And so begins the stage of having two very loud, obnoxious children that make you wonder what in the world you were thinking bringing them out to a restaurant and why didn’t we just order pizza?
But really. It was a fun time. The food was excellent and after practically every bite Angel would say, “MMMM YUM YUM!”. This girl likes her food. Like mother like daughter, I guess.
After telling Angel to use her inside voice 400 times we finally finished dinner and stopped to pick up a few movies. By the time we got home it was close to bedtime so we just played a little and then sent the kids off to bed. It was kind of a bummer because it doesn’t really feel like a family night (miss you Princess!) when all it consisted of was eating dinner together – which we normally do anyway. I’m looking forward to when the kids get a little older and we can play board games. Wait. Please disregard that last line. I do not want my babies to grow up. But yet I do. But yet I don’t.
~Well I went to bed contemplating the feelings in my soul of my kids growing up and of course woke up at 4 am to Angel’s screaming. Because that’s what we do now. We wake up at 3 or 4 am. Every single night. And again – it’s bittersweetness. I cannot wait for the day when I can get a good nights sleep three nights in a row. But I cannot imagine the day when our babies won’t wake up in the middle of the night crying for us.
~On a wonderful amazing note, both kids slept in until 8:00 am Saturday. That is like the parting of the Red Sea variety of miracles. It was so wonderful. Well except for the fact that when Angel woke up at 4 am Pat went down to get her back to sleep but I woke up too and couldn’t go back to sleep. So finally at 5:30 am I got out of bed and went downstairs and accidentally rented a cheesy chick flick on pay per view. Accidentally because I thought we didn’t have pay per view movies anymore and I was playing around the remote and it came up and so I just thought I’d try it and see what happened. Thankfully I didn’t pick a really dumb movie to try it out on. Instead I picked 17 Again. I guess just a little bit of a dumb movie.
~Saturday we did nothing much at all. I attempted to do laundry and clean but wasn’t very successful. I did get my menu done for the month. Oh yes. You heard correctly. For the month. We’re on a new budget plan and it’s been going really good. And surprisingly it hasn’t been too hard to come up with meals for a month at a time. Pat is very helpful and gives me ideas for at least 1/2 the meals. So anyway, I got that done and my shopping list done but then decided to take a nap when the kids when down for a nap instead of going grocery shopping. Because I’m real ambitious like that.
~Pat had asked me earlier in the week if I wanted to go on a date this weekend. Well, yes my wonderful husband I think that would be fabulous. We had to run errands also so all of us ran and bought our tickets for a movie – The Blind Side – because it was selling out every showing. We then ran to the store and dropped the kids off at Grama’s at 5:30 pm. The show was at 7:10 and we wanted to get there early to get good seats so just ran and got a quick bite to eat at Qdoba. The movie was amazing. It was even more amazing to spend some time with my hubby. Especially when it involves popcorn, holding hands and watching a great movie.
~Sunday morning brought church. And then I decided to go to our niece’s musical and thought Angel would really enjoy it too. It was kind of a gamble because she only had about 30 minute nap right after church. But it went well and she loved it. There was only one time towards the end that she started to talk really loud – thankfully it wasn’t in the middle of a song – just the introduction to a song. Ok, maybe it was bad no matter what. But she settled down quickly and made it through the rest of the show. And our niece did a fabulous job too.
~We got home around 4:00 pm and Caleb was sleeping so me, Angel and Pat also took naps. I love Sunday afternoon naps!
~Because of Angel’s middle of the night wake up calls we decided to move her upstairs and see if that would make a difference. So while I gave the kids baths Pat switched Angel’s bed and Caleb’s crib. Angel was SO excited to see her bed in the upstairs bedroom when we got done with baths. She started screaming and jumping on her bed and was sure to tell Caleb that his bedroom was now downstairs! We’ll see how it goes tonight.
Enjoy your week!
