Precious life

Today we have a guest blogger.  My friend Kim will be sharing her family’s testimony of God’s working in their life.  Kim was a vital part of God’s plan in Angel becoming our daughter. We attended the same church but didn’t really know each other that well. One day we passed each other in the doctor’s office and Kim recognized me and stopped to visit. I shared my story of infertility, our story of losing our foster son, and how we were waiting for God to give us peace about adoption. She told me that she was an adoption counselor and to let her know if we ever needed any help. Two years later we called her and a few months later baby Angel was home in our arms!

Kim and her husband Dean shared at our church last Sunday and this in their story.  I hope it blesses you as much as it did me.

On this Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, we are greatly privileged to share with you our family’s testimony as a witness of how precious all life is in the eyes and heart of our God.

Isaiah 44:2  “I am your Creator, you were in my care even before you were born.”

When Dean and I were first married it was our deepest desire to be parents.  We soon learned that our road to a family may not come easily to us as our months of infertility turned into years of our hearts aching for a child.  The Old Testament speaks of a barren womb as being unquenchable.  This was now a deep reality for us.  After six years of waiting, tests, treatments, prayers, tears and doctors continually telling us that we were both healthy and there was simply no reason for us not to conceive a baby, the Lord turned our hearts to adoption.  As you can see today, God was just getting started with a beautiful plan for our family – a plan that so deeply honored the sanctity of human life and the plans that He has for us long before we are born.

Psalm 139:13-14  “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

A year later, God brought us together with a woman who was five months pregnant.  She told us that she knew in her heart that the child she was carrying… she was carrying for us.  We were in the delivery room when Daniel was born and just minutes after his arrival the nurse offered the nursery wristband to our birthmom to which she said – no – that belongs to Kim – she is the mommy.  Our hearts are so thankful every day that she cherished the gift of life as she entrusted Daniel’s life to our care.  She loved him deeply and God had given her peace in knowing His plan for Daniel.

Psalm 139:15  “My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.”

Four years later, after God allowed us to endure closed doors, failed adoption plans and much strengthening of our faith to hold closely to His ultimate plans, our baby girl Anna was born to a very young girl who had chosen us to adopt her baby.  Our birthmom had a miracle to share with us as she knew that she was much too young and lacked the parental support and example to raise a child at this time in her life.  Our hearts were grateful beyond words for the love of this birthmom in giving our baby girl the gift of life and us the privilege of being her family.

Psalm 139:16  “All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.”

When Anna was still a baby, God whispered to my heart that we would have another child.  He knew the desires and prayers of my mother’s heart.  As we prayed for this baby, we knew that there were many ways in which God was going to need to provide for us and bring about another adoption plan if indeed he was creating another child for us.  We were amazed at the ways in which God remained faithful to His plans and to the plan He already had for our little Isaac!

In July of 2008, our third miracle child was placed in our arms by loving birthparents who again were very young and so happy to give us the gift of our son.  We were overjoyed… our quiver was now full!  Isaac was the child that God had placed on my heart so many months before.   We tell each of our children of the perfect plan that God has had for their lives long before they were born.  We delight with them in the great detail and care that God went to to prepare such an incredible plan of birthparents, adoptive parents and all the loving people and prayers that went into their life again…. Long before they were born.    While adoption may not be the choice for everyone – giving life to an unborn baby is always the right and only choice in God’s eyes.  He has a unique purpose and plan for every man, woman and child – all human life is so important and vital to Him and the glory of His Kingdom.
