Weekend wrap up

Posted on

This weekend we drove to Mitchell to go a book signing my mom was having for her new book. Mom had suggested us all get a hotel room so the kids could swim and we could hang out. I was off work Friday and Pat was able to get off at noon so we were able to go early on Friday and stay over Friday night.

Angel was SO excited to go swimming. She loves the water so much. Caleb on the other hand, not so much. Thankfully between me, Pat, my mom and sister there was plenty of us to take Angel swimming.

She spent her time at the pool going from the baby pool with the lion (a nice lion according to Angel), to the big pool where she pretended to be a fish, to the hot tub (that we couldn’t stay in very long because it was really hot), to the big water slide that daddy took her down. You could tell the lifeguards thought we were crazy for taking her down the slide but she loved it.

Angel and the nice lion.

Going down the big slide with Daddy.

Mommy, Angel and Caleb in the hot tub. Notice Caleb’s face. Not having a blast.

Mommy and Angel with the nice lion. Notice the creepy kid. He kept calling me Mommy.

Daddy, Mommy, Angel and Caleb. Notice Caleb’s face. Not having a blast.

Caleb in the hot tub, macking on this little girl. Notice his face. It appears that he is now having a blast.

Hot stuff.

Hot stuff. Hee hee. He’s just a little too slow for my speedy camera.

We also spent a lot of time hanging out in the hotel room, eating way too much snack food and cuddling and playing with Aunt Nellie, Grama Susie and Papa.

Aunt Nellie had bought each of the kids a toy for the weekend and she also bought Angel some new accessories:

Friday night we went to a new Mexican restaurant, Corona Village, and it was so amazing. Pat said it was by far the best Mexican restaurant he’s every ate at. And that’s saying alot because he has eaten at alot of Mexican restaurants. The thing I loved was the service. Amazing. And they did little things. Like bringing two plates for the kids because they were sharing their food. I know that might seem silly but it means so much when servers think of that stuff.  Plus at the end of our meal they give you a free little dessert. Cinnamon and sugar tortilla chips with whipped cream and chocolate and strawberry sauce. Yum.  If you live near Mitchell you’ve got to try it out! We’ve decided to start a tradition to meet there once a month for dinner.

My mom’s book signing went really well. We are planning to have one in Sioux Falls soon. For those of you in Sioux Falls or close by that are interested I’ll post something here and on Facebook when we settle on a date.

The rest of our weekend was pretty uneventful. I had gotten most of the laundry and cleaning done Thursday and Friday morning so it was so nice not to worry about that.  We had church and then lunch with Pat’s family on Sunday.  The kids seem to be getting a little cough so hopefully it doesn’t turn into anything.   I’m looking forward to the week as I’m training at work and so have a little different schedule. I’m only working until 5:00 pm M-W so that will be nice to be home for supper (and hopefully get to go our church’s Mom’s Dinner event!). But then I have to work Th and F mornings. Thankfully it’s just temporary though and I’ll be back to working only M-W next week.

Hope you had a good weekend and that your week is good too!

🙂 We miss you guys lots! Angel “called” you and Jim tonight on her play phone. She said, “I need to call Jim and Leana… but I’ll call Jim first.” 🙂
