Today I made my husband very happy

Posted on

This week I’m back to my regular working schedule – 8:30am-7:00pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then home Thursday and Friday. I LOVE the Thursday-Friday part of that schedule!

I’ve tried to set aside Thursdays as my cleaning and laundry day.  I love it because then we have the weekend to spend together as a family without having to do any major housework. Today though I wasn’t very successful with my plan.

It was finally nice here today. After being housebound for the past three months or so it was so wonderful to have a warm day. The kids didn’t even need their winter jackets when we went outside. But I still made them wear light coats and hats since they are just getting over their colds.

After Caleb’s morning nap we went out into the backyard. We walked out onto the deck and I looked to my left to see the most disgusting sight I’ve seen in a very long time.  We have two dogs. And let’s just say it’s been a very long cold winter and so there hasn’t been much clean up going on.

The doggy doo-doo clean up job is my husband’s job. Not because I’m lazy. No, that’s not it at all. Really.  I do try to help sometimes.  Ok, not really.

But today when we walked outside I felt so sorry for my wonderful husband. My wonderful husband who does the dishes and gives the kids baths when I’m working until 7:00 pm on Monday-Wednesday. So I figured it’s the least I could do for my hubs.

Five garbage bags later and I’m questioning the rationale behind my decision. I don’t think I even made a dent.  But I guess the good news is the kids enjoyed some time outside in the sunshine (not in the doggy doo-doo area, thankfully they are fenced off from the main part of our yard).

I guess I let my doggy doo-doo pick-up project go to my head because I didn’t get much more work done around the house. And when I say I didn’t get much more work done around the house I mean I didn’t get anything else don’t around the house. But I did enjoy some good times outside with the kiddos and then Princess, Prankster and Prankster’s two sister’s came over to chalk and play outside. And then I made supper picked up chicken at the store and made grilled potatoes that were yummy.

So even though my day didn’t turn out exactly how I had planned I would say it turned out much better. Well except for the doggy doo-doo part.
