Mother’s day weekend wrap up

Posted on

The weekend didn’t start out so good for us. I left work at 3:30 pm on Friday, picked up the kids and went to Blockbuster to hopefully find some good movies. It was a gloomy rainy day and movies and pizza sounded like the perfect thing to do that night.

In the middle of wrestling Caleb and telling Angel again to get back here through clenched teeth the pain hit me. UG. I knew this pain. I’d felt it many times, but only a few times had it been as severe as this. I was positive the pain was from ovarian cysts. I felt warm and nauseous. My lower stomach hurt bad and I felt like I was having labor contractions. I dropped the movies and a little too harshly told Angel to move it and we practically ran out of there.

I tried calling Pat but he didn’t answer so we got home as quickly as we could. In order to protect my house from being destroyed too badly while I was incapacitated I blockaded the living room with our love seat, closed the doors to the other rooms and laid down on the couch to die. The kids had full reign of the living room and I just prayed Pat would answer his phone. I finally got a hold of him and thankfully he dropped everything and left work.

This was one of the worst episodes I’d ever had. It felt very similar to the time in college where I had passed out, my roommate drove me to the ER and I had emergency surgery for grapefruit sized cysts that had ruptured. I was pretty sure that even though I’d had a hysterectomy I could still get cysts because I still had my ovaries. But I began to wonder if this pain was something different.

Pat got home and took charge of the kids and fed them supper. He was mad at me because I refused to go to the doctor. I told him that in a few hours if it wasn’t feeling better we’d go. But if it was cysts, even ones that had ruptured, if it wasn’t anything major the pain would go away. I covered my head and fell asleep.

A few hours later I woke up and the pain was better. Not gone but certainly no where near where it had been earlier.   But I was so tired.  I sat on the couch for an hour or so while the kids played and as soon as they went to bed I went to bed.  Not quite the way I was hoping to start off the weekend.

To be continued

Oh Missy 😦 I’m so sorry. Praying everything is alright – please don’t leave us hanging too long! Love you.
