Looking past the cliche

Posted on

Is it too cliché to say that love never fails?  Especially from someone who’s been divorced? Well, I’m going to say it anyway.

Love never fails.

People? Yes, they fail. Miserably.

The song “Love Never Fails” by Brandon Heath draws me to my Heavenly Father. His love NEVER fails. As I listen to this song I replace the word “love” with “God”. Because after all, God is love.

This song is obviously taken from the scripture of 1 Corinthians 13.  And  most often when we think of those verses and when we think of love, we think of the relationship of a husband and wife.   Yes, the encouragement from this song can apply to marriage.  It should apply to our marriages.

But I think we can go deeper than that.

Are you struggling with addictions?

Love will protect
Love always hopes
Love still believes
When you don’t

Are you struggling financially?

Love will sustain
Love will provide
Love will not cease
At the end of time

Are you struggling to be a mom? A dad? A sister, brother, friend?

Love is the arms that are holding you
Love never fails you

When my heart won’t make a sound
When I can’t turn back around
When the sky is falling down
Nothing is greater than this
Greater than this

Are you face to face with something really difficult? Something that appears to be very close to overtaking you, your family or your faith?

Love is right here
Love is alive
Love is the way
The truth the life

Love is the river than flows through
Love is the arms that are holding you
Love is the place you will fly to
Love never fails you

Love. Such a simple word. But yet so profound. When we look deep into the heart of the meaning of this word and Who is represents.

I encourage you today to release your pain, suffering, burdens, fear and overwhelmtions into the arms of Love. Walking through the grocery store with rowdy kids. Going to church with a fake smile plastered on your face. Putting in ten hours at the office. Curled up in the fetal position under the covers.

Wherever you are. Love is there. God is there.

Love is not proud
Love does not boast
Love after all
Matters the most

Love does not run
Love does not hide
Love does not keep
Locked inside

Love is the river that flows through
Love never fails you

Love will sustain
Love will provide
Love will not cease
At the end of time

Love will protect
Love always hopes
Love still believes
When you don’t

Love is the arms that are holding you
Love never fails you

When my heart won’t make a sound
When I can’t turn back around
When the sky is falling down
Nothing is greater than this
Greater than this

Love is right here
Love is alive
Love is the way
The truth the life

Love is the river than flows through
Love is the arms that are holding you
Love is the place you will fly to
Love never fails you
