A request for prayer

Posted on Updated on

I was going to post this on Facebook but it was getting a little wordy. So instead I’ll do a blog post.

We would really appreciate your prayers these next two weeks.

~Sunday, June 9th is the one year anniversary of Mom and Dad high-tailing it to heaven. Wednesday, June 12th is when we found them but we’ve all kind of agreed to just use the 9th as our day to remember.

~But let’s just be real and say that it’s going to be pretty much close to impossible to just pass by June 12th as if it’s just another day, considering it was the worst day of our lives thus far.

~Danelle is coming tomorrow! Woo hoo! Since she is so A.MAZE.ING, her DUI court team is letting her stay with us in the good ol’ state of Iowa. We are so excited to have her stay with us for the week!

~Jim and Leana are coming on Wednesday! Woo hoo! They will be here through Sunday. They are actually looking forward to it because it’s been so hot and muggy down in Florida. Ha! They’ll certainly get some relief from that up here!

~Please pray for safe travels for all of them.  And then on Thursday the five of us will drive to Chamberlain. We are going to lay Mom and Dad to rest and also work on cleaning stuff out of the house.  So basically that trip will completely suck. But maybe give us some closure? I don’t know.

~As many of you know we were planning to have a party on Saturday night. Unfortunately we’ve decided to cancel that. Considering the state of our emotions today, we decided that it just won’t be the best timing to try to host an event. It was a very difficult decision to make. But I think we all have peace that it’s ok to cancel and we know everyone will understand.

~Jim and Leana will head home on Sunday. I think we are all planning to go to 8:30 church as I will be singing special music, and then Danelle will head home on Sunday too.

~On Tuesday the 11th, me and the kiddos will be going to Aberdeen for a few days so that we can be together on the 12th.

~And then of course the next Sunday is Father’s Day. Which is also the day last year that we had Mom and Dad’s memorial service.

And just like that it’s been a year since we lost our parents. And it still feels like yesterday. And the ache of not having them here cuts so deeply it’s hard to breath most days.  And even though there are still a lot of days that I am angry and confused and overwhelmingly sad, God has not forsaken us. For that, we are thankful.

We are especially thankful for you and your prayers.

I thank my God every time I remember you. Philippians 1:3

I’d been thinking about you, and your family, as the first anniversary of your parents’ passing draws close. I’m so sorry for the raw emotions I know you are all experiencing. I pray that you will find a comfort and peace that only your Heavenly Father can provide. May your time with family be filled with the many joyous memories you all have of such two giving, loving people.
