Not necessarily a waste of time but pretty close
I originally shared this post shortly after it happened, back in 2010. However, I shared it as a devotion at work last week and again today, and have added a few thoughts.
[You can watch the devotion I shared at work today here.]
A few years ago I made an amazing supper. I would like to say that I’ve made amazing suppers since then, but I can neither confirm nor deny that.
Anyway, it turned out this supper was so amazing that my daughter Angel, who was three at the time, wanted to save a little for later.
In her nose.
I found this post in my drafts folder. This is one of 254. A lot of my drafts only have one or two lines, what my main thought or idea was at the time. Obviously I didn’t get around to finishing the thought! When I came across this one last night, I thought it would be fun to compare my answers to how I would answer today.
1. What color is your toothbrush?
Then: white and pink
Now: white and orange
It appears that I am the recipient of a Tuesday neck curse. For at least 6 months now, it seems like every time I hurt my neck or back and get to the point where I really need to see my chiropractor, it’s a Tuesday. Unfortunately my chiropractor doesn’t work on Tuesdays. And I love my chiropractor so much that I’m not willing to go anywhere else, even though I’m in extreme pain.
For example today. Extreme pain. My neck has been sore for a few days but nothing too crazy. This morning I woke up and it’s now one of those things where I can barely turn my neck. And of course. It’s Tuesday.
What is it about Tuesdays that my neck doesn’t like?
In other strange news, it appears that the town of Aberdeen has a hair curse. For me anyway.
Every time I go to Aberdeen I do something to my hair. The past few times it’s been giving it some color.
But this past weekend I got real crazy.
Before I got my hair cut, I downloaded this app where you can give yourself all different types of hair styles. If you need something to do to pass the time, I highly recommend this app. The kids love it and thought it was pretty funny when I gave them cool hair styles too…
That’s my Angel Cakes when she was a baby.
And Bubba at Holly and Timothy’s wedding. This is also a picture of what my grandchild will look like. Or as Holly said, “white chubby faced babies with afros?”
HAHAHA! Yep, pretty much!
Here’s another one of my favorites.
When my hair was long, that was actually pretty realistic!
So anyway, in real life this is how the Aberdeen hair adventures turned out:
Pat gave me strict instructions to not come home looking like Justin Bieber.
Unfortunately if I poofed up the long part, I actually did look quite a bit like the Biebs.
Kinda creepy, huh. Needless to say, Patrick was not too impressed.
So Friday night I asked me sister to trim my bangs a little. And this is what we came up with…
It was still a little too long and would get in my eyes unless I pinned it back.
This morning Pat walked in to the bathroom to find me with scissors in hand. He asked me what I was doing and I said I was doing nothing.
And then he said, “Don’t be messin’ with things you don’t know nothin’ about!”
Whatever. It can’t be that hard.
Snip, snip. And I think we have finally reached the final hair cut.
Probably because I don’t have any hairs left to cut!
Well after all of that, I’m still not sure about the new hairdo. But I will save a ton of money on shampoo and conditioner.
That’s gotta count for something, right?
Although I guess if that was my goal, I should have went with this look…
It’s getting stranger around here all the time. And I don’t think Aberdeen has anything to do with it. : )
We haven’t gotten professional pictures taken yet for this year’s Christmas card. It was on our to-do list but just never made it happen.
So the other night we decided to take some pictures ourselves.
They didn’t turn out to bad.
And I got to thinking that they are probably a better reflection of our life than professional pictures would be.
It might just be the perfect Christmas card.
Merry Christmas! 2011 was a great year. Here’s a little bit about our life this year…
Most days it feels like we have four kids instead of two.
While we are thankful for Pat’s job and his 21 years working for a great company, alot of the time Daddy comes home from work stressed out and tired. But still manages to be the world’s best husband and father.
All day long the kids suck the life out of Missy, which means she loves them dearly and every day is a complete joy.
Angel enjoys laughing at everything we say.
Caleb eats alot.
Missy got a nose job this year. Angel turned four but is a little small for her age.
Caleb turned three and is doing great in school. He also has a mean throwing arm. But we’re trying to make sure he doesn’t get a big head about it.
Pat and Missy trained for and ran their first marathon this year. Pat said it was the hardest thing he’d ever done. But you can’t tell that by looking at him. All his training is keeping him thin and trim!
Merry Christmas from our family to ours! We hope your faith wasn’t stretched too far this year and we pray big blessings for you in 2012!
