It was a beautiful Resurrection weekend. And not just because the weather was nice.
Friday night Pat and I were able to go on a long overdue date. We went to Fast and the Furious 7 and it was so good. I might have cried at the end. OK, I did cry.
Saturday we helped Pat’s niece and nephew move in the morning and then I had drama practice at 1:00. Pat continued to help them move and I took the kids home. We had some planting to do!
I saw on Facebook or Pinterest a cute idea. Have the kids plant jelly beans, and then before they get up plant suckers. I wanted to connect it with the Resurrection message and so we talked about what happens when we plant Jesus in our life.
I have no idea what we did Saturday night. I think I cleaned and Pat slept (he’s also been sick). Oh ya, we made a little progress on going through Grandma’s Barb’s things and got some of her furniture moved into the house.
Sunday morning I was up bright and early to get ready for church. And to plant suckers.
The kids (especially Angel) were a little suspicious of how the suckers got there.
I was a part of a drama at church and it was such a blessing to be able to share about God’s love. I’m not sure if they recorded the drama, but if so, I’ll post it when it’s available.
At church I was reminded of how cool my friend Christa is. 🙂
Grandma made an amazing lunch for us, Pat’s sister and our niece and nephews. It was then time for the Jesus Basket Scavenger Hunt.
Mom would have been proud that we did a scavenger hunt. She would not have been proud of how lame my clues were. Oh well, it was last minute and the kids thought it was fun.
I convinced the fam to take some pictures, although the sun wasn’t quite in the right spot.
This was my view as I walked to church Sunday morning.
The sun had risen. And so had the Son. I’m so thankful.
Life is crazy right now, so as much as I’d like to write a lengthy, humorous, inspiring post, all I can come up with right now are some pictures from the weekend.
Hahahaha. Love that man!
We have lots of babies! I never thought they’d actually grow so it’s been super cool!
This is our chore chart. Let’s be real. I pretty much don’t clean during the week. And then on Saturdays we all tackle the house together. We started doing this chart a couple weeks ago. No tv, no friends, nothing til they get their chores done. There is also no yelling by the mama so that makes everyone happy!
Angel has been coming with me to drama practice. (I’m co-directing a dinner theatre for our church! Ahhh!) She was having a little fun with our costumes.
Caleb wanted to grow his muscles and asked Pat to teach him a real push up. This dude has got some skills!
This is not from an episode of Hoarders. It is my bedroom. But that’s a story for another post.
I found myself in the drive thru at Burger King on Friday. Not sure how that happened. Anyway, this truck was in the parking lot and the occupants were also enjoying a meal with the king. I thought it was a little ironic.
Well that’s all folks. Hope your weekend was great and fun and memorable. Ours sure was! But again, that’s a story for another post!
We did a lot of rock climbing this weekend.
This mama also had a million heart attacks.
We went down to Falls Park on Saturday, a park along the river that has beautiful rocks. Pat was meeting up with some buddies to drive his remote control rock climber trucks, and the kids and I thought we’d enjoy the beautiful weather.
I was able to contain the kids for about thirty minutes and I had some time to write. Angel did some writing also, and Caleb climbed on the little rocks and drove his truck Pat has been building for him. Read the rest of this entry »
What a beautiful weekend!
Up here in good ol’ South Dakota, it was the first weekend that it felt like Spring might actually be around the corner. Sunday morning I took Molly (the dog) outside and I heard the birds chirping. Thank you, Jesus!
My sister came down for the weekend, so that made it even better. She literally works 24/7 as she’s the general manager for a restaurant/convention center. Even when she’s not at work, she is dealing with employee issues via text, email and phone call. We are so thankful when she’s able to sneak away to visit!
As you know if you read this post, Friday was Dad’s birthday. I was having a really good morning. Every day we have devotions at work and on Friday the speaker shared about her dad who had made a huge impact on her life. Cue the waterworks. I am so thankful for the impact my dad had on my life. I also miss him more than words could ever say.
Saturday we met my brother Tracy and his finance Patricia at a new Mexican fast food place (Giliberto’s). It was so good! And so much fun when we all get together, especially since we are hanging out with this goofball.
After lunch we all headed to the zoo. It was a little chilly, but considering the winter we have had, it felt amazing to be outside.
First we took in the dinosaur exhibit, which was very interesting, but a little creepy too. The kids thought it was awesome.
Of course, it’s too early in the year for all the animals to be out, but we still had fun and of enjoyed the beautiful day!
Saturday night we had our dinner in honor of Dad’s birthday, which consisted of crab legs. That’s right, nothing but crab legs. After dinner we watched previews on On Demand – seriously the most entertaining thing ever, and then took in a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory, which ranks right up there with Seinfeld. Tracy and Caleb were involved in a gun fight. The nerf variety. Things got a little dangerous when Patrick started shooting at his wife and his wife began to make threats that she probably couldn’t keep.
Sunday was another full day. Pat and I are teaching Sunday school and that’s always an adventure! After church we grabbed a quick lunch and then headed home to do some chores. We normally do our chores on Saturday, but with Nellie here, we had much better things to do! Caleb had a bowling birthday party at 4:00, we spent some time outside, Pat got to take his motorcycle for a spin, and before we knew it, it was closing in on 8:00 pm.
The only bad part about the weekend ~ other than we had to Spring Forward, and wowzer, it was hard to get up this morning ~ was that we forgot to Skype with Jim, Leana and Cleo. But they are so good about sending us pictures. Here are a few of the little chubby monkey:
I love that baby girl so much!
Well, that’s about it for our weekend. I’m so thankful to not be hibernating any longer, and while I know it’s entirely possible, I’m praying we are done with any major snow or cold.
How was your weekend? What kind of memories did you make?
Have a good week! Hug your loved ones who are close, and tell the ones who aren’t, how much you love them!
